Rwanda 2024

Kigali, Rwanda - August, 2024

Impressions from the visit:

  • Rwanda is not a country that drips with religiosity and its leaders are not ostentatiously religious. ¹

  • Postgenocide reconciliation in Rwanda has been shaped largely by religious faith, religious imagery and religious language.¹

  • The highlight was meeting all the inspiring people in this tiny country with big hearts filled with hope.

  • There seems to be so much potential in this nation, with diaspora returning after decades of exile wanting a better Rwanda.

  • Rwandans have taken the best things they have learned from their temporary homes and become a connector for African nations as well as the global community.

  • The Prayer House seems to me to be that spiritual catalyst for good to happen.

IMPACT

Having recently returned from his transformative trip to Rwanda, Bill finds himself deeply reflective about the incredible experiences and lessons learned. This journey was not just an adventure; it was a profound awakening that reshaped his understanding of service, community and faith.

In Rwanda, Bill witnessed first hand the resilience and strength of the local people, who, despite facing significant challenges, continue to nurture hope and rebuild their lives. Through his involvement with various organizations, Bill saw the tangible impact of micro-loans and community support in breaking the cycle of poverty. These experiences reinforced his belief in the power of investing in families and empowering individuals to lead productive lives.

As Bill processes the rich tapestry of his time in Rwanda, he is very much committed to continuing this work. He is reaching out to invite others to join him in this mission. Whether through volunteering, prayer or financial support, there are numerous ways to contribute to the ongoing efforts in these communities. Together, we can be instruments of change, sharing the blessings we have received and extending hope to those in need.

More information detailing his experiences and the specific projects he is involved in can be found in the ‘Projects’ section. He hopes these insights will inspire others to reflect on their own call to serve and consider how they might get involved. This journey has affirmed Bill’s belief that we are all called to participate in the work of the Kingdom, and together, we can make a significant difference. He looks forward to sharing this journey with you and exploring how we can partner to support those in Rwanda and beyond. Let’s embark on this path together, scattering seeds of hope and love in the world.
